DR. TOBLER’S SURGICAL BACK BRACES
The following is a guide to help you through the process of obtaining your back brace prior to surgery. We know this is a scary time and there are a lot of unknowns, so we hope to make this a easy as possible. There are two main back braces that Dr. Tobler will prescribe for surgery, LSO (LumboSacral Orthosis) and TLSO (ThoracoLumboSacral Orthosis). Both braces you will bring with you to your surgery location because it will need to be worn after surgery. We know that there a few questions that do arise about the braces, so we hope to address all of your concerns:
WILL MY INSURANCE COVER MY BRACE?
The billing codes we would use for the two braces are L0650 (LSO) and L0457 (TLSO) and most insurances do cover the braces; there are always a few exceptions. Both of these back braces do require authorization from the majority of insurances, so we suggest that you give us a call and we can start the authorization process prior to fitting (513-793-7335, press #3). Once we obtain all the information from you, we will retrieve your benefits and authorization. After your insurance has authorized your brace, we will give you a call and you can come in to be fit. We do not charge for any office visits; the code that we bill to insurance includes the fitting and any adjustments needed after that fitting.
